Performance and Maintenance of Solar Panels in Cold Climates

Due to the increase in global warming developed countries like Australia, USA and developing countries like India, China has started installing solar panels as these panels are the biggest source of renewable energy. Another reason for installing solar panels is they save lots of money in the long term and save the environment too. But some people who live in a colder climate has a concern regarding the performance and maintenance of solar panels in cold climates.
In a cold climate, the temperature tends to get too low and sometimes snowfall can cover your solar panels during snowfalls. Another major issue with cold climate during winter is that sunlight rarely lasts for full day.

Performance and Maintenance of Solar Panels in cold Climates

Performance of solar panels in cold Climates:

When sunlight hits the solar panels, then solar panels absorb the sunlight as a source of energy to generate electricity. The important point here is solar pannel requires sunlight to generate electricity, not sun heat. Hotter temperature can damage your solar panels.
Therefore, it’s doesn’t matter how colder the temperature is as long as solar panels are receiving the sunlight they’ll keep on generating electricity. Although overly heated climate can cause solar panels to overheat.
What about rainy seasons?
Some area experiences cooler rainy season when clouds and overcast skies extend for multiple days whereas, cold climates areas may see throughout the whole year. But the good news is solar panels continues to generate the electricity in the rainy season which depends on the density of clouds.
When you see clouds but the sun is still present there in the sky and solar panel use diffuse or indirect sunlight (radiation) to generate electricity but during rainy season clouds cause diffuse light and helps solar panels to continuously generate electricity.....................READ MORE
